Greetings,

As you are going to display the content by HTML, you have first to standard how
the the Yen sign could be displayed in the browser.

HTML to display a yen dollar sign:

<html><body>&yen;</body></html>

Checkout other sign from there :
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/sgml/entities.html#h-24.2.1

In JSP, <%='\u00A5'%>, would not produce &yen; for you. So, do the translation
by yourself is necessary

Hi,
I think the browser does not have those char set, So you need to install
those charecters in the browser to support different Locale's char-set.

Regards,
Manoj

  Hi all,

  Am facing a problem in dsplaying currency symbols.
  Here's a sample jsp page....

  - 8< ------------------------------------
  <html><head><title>Testing</title></head>
  <body>

  <%  java.text.NumberFormat nf1 =
  java.text.NumberFormat.getCurrencyInstance(java.util.Locale.JAPAN);
  %>

  Price = <%=nf1.format(1234)%>
  Japanese yen symbol =<%='\u00A5'%>

  </body></head>
  -- 8< -------------------------------------

  and the result is as such

  Price = 1,234 Japanese yen symbol =

  Can anyone explain why the symbol is not shown when
  using the numberformat to display the price. Or is
  there something I've missed out in that case pls tell
  me the same.

  Actually this is just one example, i will need to
  display other currency symbols as well depending on
  the locale.

  btw am using jdk version 1.3.1.

  sarita
