Hi, I'm trying to decide whether to use Log4J or the Java 1.4 logging API (JSR47) in a distributed J2EE app.
I've read a lot of opinions expressed favouring Log4J over 'standard' Java 1.4 logging, but most of what I've read seems to be quite old and was written before the final release of the 1.4 API, e.g. http://www.ingrid.org/jajakarta/log4j/jakarta-log4j-1.1.3/docs/critique.html, and I think some changes may have been made to the 1.4 spec as a result of the criticisms. Can anyone give me an informed opinion of whether there is still such a great difference between these two frameworks, and which they would recommend? Thanks, Al.
