I am currently (up until now) using the Lambert and Osborne (2002) "A
Framework For
Programming and Problem Solving". I am not sure if anyone else is familiar
with this text ?

If anyone is familiar with it, can they comment about at what stage of their
java career they began using it ? And what they thought about it ?

I am thinking that this text stops being useful as an introductory text when
it gets to chapter 12 and begins to talk about recursion, complexity and
searching and sorting....

It becomes complex at about this point.

I have gotten to about half way through it and it has become quite complex
after that. So I am thinking now might be a good time to look for another
more basic text....?

2 texts that may be more suitable come to mind :-

1) Java Software Solutions by Lewis and Loftus
2) Java From the Beginning by King

Does anyone know about these texts ? Are they more suited for someone at the
introductory level ? Do they get very complex ? (As complex as the Lambert
and Osborne text gets at chapter 11 and thereafter....) What are these texts
like ?

Can someone comment on this .... ????

Is anyone familiar with the Java101 column that runs in the

www.javaworld.com

magazine ?

Is this a good column for teaching introductory java students ? Could the
Java101 column be used as a tool for teaching introductroy java students ?
