One way to visualize the 7u development forests is to think of a cactus with a couple of arms on a hot day in the desert. As the trunk grows, which here corresponds to jdk7u-dev & jdk7u forests, where jdk7u is the less thorny side of jdk7u-dev. Every now and then a new arm pops out (the stabilization forests for a release).
