Congratulations to all on the team. We're now officially part of the DB top level project.

Next milestone: completion of JSR 243 with a successful vote from the JCP.

Subject: [result] Re: [vote] JDO out of incubation and into the DB project ( was Re: [discussion] JDO out of incubation)

It's been a few days now (5?) so here's the summary.  I did a bad job by crossposting to db, as the db PMC seems to have voted there.  I will be counting all votes on this public thread :

DB PMC Votes in Favor: David Van Couvering, Thomas Dudziak*, Henning Schmiedehausen, Thomas Fischer, Geir, Matthew Baird, Scott Eade, John McNally, Brian McCallister, Jean Anderson,
Incubator PMC Votes in Favor : Jim Jagielski, Geir,
Other Votes in Favor : Dain, Robert, Niclas, Craig

So I believe that we can congratulate the JDO community for a job well done, and wish them well as they continue their work as part of the DB project.

Congrats all!

I repurposed the discussion thread for continuity to call for a vote.  There has been no concern or objection noted in the last two weeks, so I'll assume that people are comfortable with this.

So what say ye?

[ ] +1 Graduate JDO from the Apache Incubator to be a part of the DB TLP
[ ] -1 Do not graduate at this time because :

I'd like to ask that this vote run 72 hours so that in the event of a successful vote, we can flip the project over to DB in time for ApacheCon.

I'd like to propose that the JDO podling graduate from incubation.  I'll call for a vote if this discussion is positive.

They are about to do a release, and figure they'd like to do that in their new home at DB rather than in incubator.

The active committer community is small, with a "legal diversity factor" of 4 or 5, if you count me.

Committers
-----------
Craig, Michelle, Martin Zaun - from Sun
Matthew Adams, Eric Bendston - independents
Michael Watzek, Michael Bouschen - Techspree

(and if you count me, I have no legal relationship to any organization above...)

They also have two very active contributors, who could easily become committers (and probably will at some point after graduation)  who are independent as well.

They have reasonable dev list traffic,  378 messages in Oct, 473 in sept, 290 in Aug... with decisions made in public, and with no rancor that I can see.

They hold conference calls once a week (not ideal IMO) but so far that doesn't seem to disenfranchise anyone, and they publish the minutes to the dev list immediately after the calls.  As far as I can tell, there have been no complaints.

Anyway, I've notified the DB PMC before I posted this, and CC-ed them on this mail.  If there are no complaints, I'll call for a vote to both graduate JDO and be accepted by the DB PMC>
