What is the problem with checking UTAUDIODEV? The only programs which use the GStreamer mixer applet are the volume-control applet in the panel and the gnome-volume-control program. If the user doesn't have access to the audio device, then they will not be able to use these programs anyway, so why would it matter whether the plugin checks for UTAUDIODEV or not? Brian
