Not much. I am a manager that was a C programmer many years ago. I have learned Java and Maven as part of Jenkins plugin maintenance and a little experience before Jenkins.
If you are interested in learning and are willing to learn, you can adopt a plugin. Technical questions to the developer list frequently get good answers.
