Note, after debugging:

The issue that I faced:

  1. Had activation.jar in another webapp on same tomcat
  2. I learnt that(just now) tomcat uses common class loader. Hence it loaded both in to classpath/memory and created all this fuss
  3. I have undeployed the other application for now, jenkins is properly able to send email
