This issue may be related to automatically building an EAR from a WAR file and not necessarily from a connectivity issue. Have you tried changing your settings to EE5 or EE6 in the plugin settings? The plugin will use this setting to automatically create an application.xml based on the EE setting specified. If this setting change doesn't make a difference, validate the EAR file is truly generated on the file system and that it's not a read/write permissions issue.
