what actually happens is that the HpToolsLauncher invokes the HP ALM Scheduler process via COM, which in turn connects to UFT, and starts the run (no ALM connection yet). Now UFT will connect to ALM, download the needed files, run the test and report back to ALM. the plugin doesn't connect to ALM for the running of the test, it only connects to ALM for reading the status of the test during the run. If the test is run, and there is a problem with status reporting you have a problem with the plugin, but i think this is not the case.
