Problem with Nexus authorization from Jenkins

I'm sure I must be missing something simple.  I cannot get my Jenkins 
job to authenticate with my Nexus server to download artifacts.  I've 
got Jenkins installed on a Linux server.  I edited the 
/var/lib/jenkins/.m2/settings.xml file and added the appropriate 
<servers> information.  My only guess is that this must not be the right 
location to configure that information?  It's just not working.

Any suggestions?
