Thanks @Daniel. In meanwhile we have seen that there was a screw-up with the plugins. I basically disabled <authorizationStrategy>..</authorizationStrategy> and <securityRealm>..</securityRealm> in the config,xml which helped us us to properly access the UI We have then seen that there were a lot of plugin incompatibilities and thus a lot of plugins not loaded. Restoring all plugins solved the issue.
