FWIW; the 5 speed used in the J-H5 was also used in the BMW 2002tii. The
input shaft and the steel 'top hat' section through which the input shaft fits
are apparently unique to the J-H though. Parts for the 'box (like a new first
gear?) may be available from BMW. Gasket sets were certainly available a
few years ago, but had to be shipped to Canada direct from der Vaterland.
It strikes me as likely, however, that you have found some of the teeth from
the first gear baulking ring rather than teeth from the gear itself.
