Gentlemen: Today, I filled up my everyday Plymouth car (the
Interceptor is still awaiting the rebuilt Tach and Speedo)
here in Tennessee, USA, and the price was $1.18 per gallon.
This was at Sam's Club filling station (Sam's is part of
Wal-Mart). The local standard filling stations consistently
get about .10 more per gallon. If I were to drive north
into Kentucky I could get my gasoline at about 1.08 per
gallon. Now we all agree that most of the price of gasoline
is tax and tax and tax upon tax. Tax upon tax? Sure! When
you purchase a tire in the USA, the federal excise tax is
added to the price of the tire..then you pay State Sales Tax
on the tire price and also the federal tax. A tax on tax.
But, what can we do? I feel sorry for my fellow Jensenites
who are paying so much more. In fact, I think if the Oil
Companies and the States cooperated in trying NOT to rape
the public, our gasoline would be much, much below a dollar
a gallon. But don't forget that OPEC is also out to get all
they squeeze out of the rest of the world. Add all that up,
greedy OPEC, heartless Oil Refiners and too much taxation
and it is easy to see why gasoline, throughout the world, is
more and more expensive. Just thought I'd throw that out
for you to chew on.....Frank Schwartz 73 Int. 140/5975
