James,
Good information. I am still debating on whether to fit K & D's kit in R12
form or R134a form. I wonder if they use the Egelhof valve or another. If I
do R12, I will use a blend instead. It seems at least one owner was
satisfied with the R134 performance, but I am not sure yet. I have collected
reams of information and pro and con opinions.

Subject: Interceptor - R12/R134a - A/C Expansion Valve (Peanut Vale)

Hi

Like most owners I have recently converted my A/C system from R12 to R134a.
I was made aware of need to replace the hoses and I chose to replace my
compressor with a modern Sandens unit.

What I was not advised about was the Expansion Valve or Peanut Valve (Item
50, Page M5 in the Interceptor Parts Book). This little item was made some
twenty+ years ago by a German company called Egelhof, they are still making
them today!

I asked for a data sheet and even sent an old item for them to inspect.
Egelhof have informed my that THE ORIGINAL VALVE WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY
WITH R134a. They tell me that I should purchase a new valve Part No: TEC/A
311 302 R134a 5/8"x3/4"x7/16".
