The current academic license still says something to the effect that
there should be one copy on a server used on that server and on
connected client machines. This could be liberally interpreted to mean
that it can be used by all machines on a LAN. As always, you are
allowed to distribute any software you develop based on Jess, but you
can't distribute Jess itself without a license to do so. The recipient
of the additional software would need to acquire Jess themselves.
