Well, *technically* it's correct to say the runtime goes down *or* up
as the number of rules does, yes? I meant that they vary in direct
proportion to one another. I did indeed say this in an awkward
way. All I meant was that the equation says runtime is proportional to
some number R' which is less than the number of rules, times some
number F' which is (much) less than the number of facts, raised to the
power P' which is less (generally much, much less) than the number of
patterns in a rule.
