Well, first off, the JessDE is a feature of Jess 7, not of Jess 6. When using the JessDE, you don't have to put a copy of jess.jar anywhere; the Jess 7 manual tells you how to install the JessDE into Eclipse.
I think learning both of these technologies together is unlikely to work out very well. Before you try learning to use Jess in Eclipse, you should probably first get your bearings using Eclipse to create projects, edit and save files, etc. There are plenty of books on this topic, and lots of tutorials on the Web. Start looking from www.eclipse.org. For learning Jess, the three best resources would be the manual itself, the book "Jess in Action", and the Jess web site at www.jessrules.com.
