Make sure that you have updated portals-bridges and /applications/php (some old files were not removed from CVS I just fixed it)
I just got a clean CVS and the build/deploy went fine.

Perhaps I am missing something, but the project.xml still has a dependency to "phpportlet.jar" under itgroundwork.
