Hi Marek, I succeeded in running J2 - M1 on JBoss 4.0.1, see my findings in my blog(http://marcels-javanotes.blogspot.com/), and the J2's wiki page (http://wiki.apache.org/portals/Jetspeed2/JBossHowToDetailed).
Log4j is reconfigured by J2, after that, all logging is placed in J2 logfiles, located in jetspeed.war/logs. Did J2 work properly after it started? I found at first that the portlets content would not show up, Tom Pesendorfer pointed me at the wiki page shown above, which describes the cause of this problem.
