I don't think this is the case... There will be a 1.3 release soon, within
the year, maybe this summer.  The next big release is, I believe, 2.0, and
should incorporate the new Portlet API standard, not the WebSphere version.

That should be a year off, maybe less, based on the time frame of the
standards process.
