Finally... are you sure that '_svn' is not configurable to '.svn'? That seems like a horrible design decision if not IMHO.
I do not see any configuration options for this. When I upgraded to version 1.3.x (a month ago or so) all my local SVN checkouts went useless. I didn't know why, but this was probably because the new version of TortoiseSVN wouldn't understand the former .svn dirs.
Maybe the solution would be helpful to someone who gets the same problem (I've become another windows installer victim: accept, next, next, next, finish... ;) ).

Since 1.3.0 TortoiseSVN support '_svn' in order to comply with some .NET platforms (http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/tsvn_1.3_releasenotes.html). The only problem with SVN_ASP_DOT_NET_HACK is that it is not cleared from windows registry after un-/reinstall of TortoiseSVN and affects new installations, even if no support for .NET is selected in the installer.
