Would you please elaborate your special CSS classes? Do you mean apply a different CSS class to a different menu title? What I need is to put a different image in front of each menu/submenu title. It sounds like your special CSS class is enough for this.

A solution is dependent on HTML elements you use to build navigation. In
my case thera are unordered lists with images specified (instead of
bullets), if you use for example divs, specify the background image
(with no repeat) for them and this should do.
