Hi Richard,

That is correct. Jetspeed is the Portal deployed in the Tomcat web
container. Pluto is the reference implementation for the JSR-168
portlet specification. It is embedded in Jetspeed. In addition
Jetspeed is a Portal implementation. There are components in J2 that
provide facades to external security implementations. Jetspeed comes
by default with a Derby database and security implementation for user
groups and roles. The Jetspeed Profiler component provides a
customizable content negociation system based on the users profile
(roles groups language browser or other criteria). The portal content
is stored in PSML format. The content is divided into a hierachy of
Folders, Pages, Links. Each portal page can contain multiple Portlets
and can be displayed using different layouts. The portal itself can
define multiple themes which determine how the navigation bars
(containing Folders, LInks, and Pages) are rendered. It's that simple.
For me the hardest thing to grasp was the profiler. The rest is easy.

Hope this helps you,
Phil
