maven -o war:install and, maven -o j2:QuickStart to deploy your portal. or, maven -o j2:nodbQuickStart to deploy without creating the database (use existing database) See the plugin docs for the other commands, http://portals.apache.org/jetspeed-2/j2-maven-plugin.html As for eclipse, there is no .classpath or .project file that is generated. You are free to create your own. If you feel you are going to do many modification to the original portal you are better off working directly with the jetspeed source.
