Are you wanting to connect to jmx from a remote server? If so, you'll want to read the commented sections in your etc/jetty-jmx.xml and use the configuration most appropriate for you. By default, jmx is enabled locally for the JVM to access. No port listening, but once you connect with a jmx tool via the JVM process, like jconsole, a new random port is now listening.
