Seth Rogovoy, author of "The Essential Klezmer: A Music Lover's Guide to Jewish Roots and Soul Music" will be discussing the Jewish textual roots and references of Bob Dylan songs as a special guest at "Discussing Dylan," a class at the New School in New York, on Wed., March 12, at 7:45 p.m.
Seth's talk will include reference to Dylan songs and rare video footage capturing Bob Dylan in Jewish contexts, and trace specific quotations and paraphrases from Torah, Talmud and Kabbalistic writings, as well as other Jewish cultural references, in the work of this great Jewish songwriter. The class is open to guests of the speaker, which means you who are reading this message. Admission is free. Previous guest speakers include musician Garth Hudson, radio personalities Bob Fass, Meg Griffin and Larry Josephson, author Larry "Ratso" Sloman and professor/critic Christopher Ricks.
