Gabriel Mayom RUMBEK, 8th August, 2011 [Gurtong] - Authority in Lakes State have expressed confidence that insecurity incidences have greatly reduced in the region since the Republic of South Sudan was declared independent on the July 9th. According to Lakes State Police Inspector Lt-Colonel Moses Mayek Dongbil, the State is experiencing moments of peace and tranquillity, assuring foreign investors of improved security. Dongbil affirmed that the State has become peaceful and that only cases of adultery and cattle rustling are reported mostly. “Lakes State is secure again, the daily reported violence has reduced, we are now a full government and everybody fears the authority. Security reports are up to date since the police and armed forces are working day and night,” Dongbil boldly stated. The Police Inspector assured foreigners to feel free to invest in Lakes State territory. He was confident that their lives and property will be protected by State security. He also said that the new nation of South Sudan is being guided by the rule of law and that it requires those who can support in development initiatives. Dongbil described people in Lakes State as friendly and hospitable. During the first half of this year, Lakes State witnessed some of the worst inter community violent conflicts resulting in the loss of many lives including women and children who were killed in cold blood.
