TORIT, 11 August 2011 (Gurtong) – Kapoeta East County Commissioner
Titus Lotyam told the press in Torit last week that the County is
anticipating a 90 percent harvest and commended the farmers for their
efforts in addressing food insecurity.

He revealed that his tour of the vast county saw him witness massive
crop cultivation and expressed optimism that the county will be
self-sufficient in terms of food production.

“I am glad that the farmers have done their best despite the irregular
weather patterns and lack of agricultural inputs”, said Lotyam. He
cited local crop varieties that have done well in the county as
sorghum, groundnuts and maize.

His Ikotos counterpart Peter Lokeng Lotone said the expected harvest
will address the recurrent food insecurity in the county.
