Also on Friday 40,800 SSP (US$15,200 ) was approved for the daughter
of speaker of Unity state, Nyalel Maguek Gai who is going for
University in Nairobi, Kenya as part of a scheme to encourage girls to
enter into higher education.

According to the State Minister of Information and Communication,
Gideon Gatpan Thoar, the sponsorship will encourage girls to be
involved in education.

Many people in Unity state described it as a misuse of public funds.
An anonymous source told Sudan Tribune that the many of the council of
state ministers disagree with the decision. He pointed to the fact
that speaker receives a wage which allows him to pay for his
daughter’s fees, whereas many in the state cannot.

Reaction from so many citizens in the state, described the step made
by the state council of ministers as their personality interest on the
rising up family of speaker to be all the time ruling in the entirely
of Unity State citizens.

At the meeting, governor Taban Deng Gai expressed his appreciation for
the assurance made by the vice president Riek Machar Teny, that
education will be given to all the children of Unity state.
