August 24, 2011 (KHARTOUM) – Gulf Air, the national airline of
Bahrain, plans to start flights to the new state of South Sudan early
next year, the company announced.

The airline will fly three times a week to Juba starting next February
with fares as low as $447.

South Sudan became an independent state early last month.

Gulf Air’s Chief Executive Officer Samer Majali said the new routes
were part of the airline’s long-term strategy to connect Bahrain and
the region with new and unexplored markets.

’It is one more example of our pioneering tradition, establishing our
leadership position to gain commercial advantage in new markets,’ he
noted.

’It also opens up new business opportunities between Bahrain and these
fast-developing countries,’ he added.
