NEW YORK, 26 September 2011 - President Salva Kiir has sent a strong
message to South Sudanese during an interview with the Voice of
America T.V. and Radio last Saturday in New York, urging them to be
patient as his government delivers its promises on security, food
security and education.

“You the generous people of South Sudan since you have waited for long
time with patience and you are expecting more from us in the fields of
health, education, safe water dinking, food security, physical
security and infrastructure, we are ready to do that, with your
patience”. H.E the President conveyed the message during an interview
with the Voice of America T.V. and Radio in New York yesterday evening
of September 24th, 2011.

President Kiir affirmed that after returning from the USA, he will
visit Khartoum to meet President El-Bashir personally and discuss with
him the remaining issues of the CPA and post-independence
arrangements.

Kiir also echoed his speech to the United Nations General Assembly
(UNGA) during the interview that “the main backbone of the economy of
the new Republic of South Sudan is agriculture; oil revenues will be
used for refuelling agricultural activities in all parts of South
Sudan”.

He said South Sudan is able to build itself and become stronger based
on its available renewable and non-renewable resources, and with some
basic support from friends and well-wishers all over the world.

H.E Kiir said the conflicts in some parts of South Sudan such as Upper
Nile, Jonglei and Unity states are not deeply rooted conflicts but are
conflicts which have been manufactured by the enemies of South Sudan
who are trying to prove to the world that South Sudan is a failed
State while trying to distract the people of South Sudan from
concentrating on developing their country.

Meanwhile, on the evening of September 24, 2011 in New York, President
Kiir met a number of heads of States among them President of Eritrea
H.E Isaias Afewerki; Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya H.E Raila
Odinga; and the Indian Prime Minister H.E Manmohan Singh. President
Kiir briefed them about the future of the new nation of South Sudan
and the challenges ahead.
