MARIDI, 30th September 2011 [Gurtong] - Australian Middle East
Research Forum (AMERF) donors from Italy have arrived in Maridi County
of Western Equatoria State to brief the Commissioner on the
development initiatives that will be taking place in his County in
October 2011.

The pre-visit objective is geared towards ground-checking on the
proposed project areas as indicated in the funding proposal.

The National Training Health Institute (NHTI) principle Mr. Remo Elisa
in AMERF said that the donors were coming to support girl child
education through building a boarding school for girls in Maridi
County.

Meanwhile, AMERF donated to Maridi Civil Hospital one Ambulance to
support the new Outpatient Department (OPD) and a laboratory to be
opened early next month.

The Commissioner of Maridi County Hon Agunu Sete revealed to the
donors that his County is agriculturally endowed and that’s why her
population is growing very fast. He appreciated AMERF’s development
initiatives in Maridi both in the health sector and Education.

In another development, the Commissioner visited farm Sudan in Kunga
Boma in Ngamunde Payam to observe agricultural based projects.
Ngamunde Payam is 7 miles north of Maridi town where farm Sudan
cultivates 32 different cereals like maize, sorghum, sesame, okra
among others.

Managers of farm Sudan revealed that the main challenges they are
facing are the lack of enough tractors, labourers and financial
support.
