Hi,
The idea behind Main Intefaces, is that if all of the main interfaces are down, then the host is not polled (their interfaces are not polled) and you only get a message in the events screen every 5 minutes.
This is useful in case you have a big router, and it goes down, you will not have all its interface down, only the DMIIs (Designated Main Interfaces) and the events telling you that the poll was not done.
Until some of the DMIIs come up again.
