I'm working on a new work distribution system for polling or any other JFFNMS task like AD.
That is making this problem go away.
It will be ready for 0.8.0.

Well possible, saw this problem with CACTI. Can you check that your total pulling time is under 5 minutes if not you will have overlapping cron running which ultimately can put your box on its knees.
