That's strange; while this is not a Nagios email list I'd have to say a correctly tuned Nagios installation would have the least hit to the server for pretty much any NMS. The trick being how good your plugins are.

People do use that, so there is no reason why it won't work. > 2) On Windows boxes i will use an snmp agent for to check Cisco's Boxes ? An SNMP agent lives on the thing you are trying to monitor. JFFNMS uses the SNMP client code in PHP to talk to the router's SNMP agent. > 3) Can i use it on Solaris 10 ? I've not heard people doing this, but there is no reason why you couldn't use Solaris 10. The main thing is getting PHP installed correctly. > 4) Can i use it on a large network? (About 200 Cisco's boxes) Most people seem to hover around the 100 mark. There are some installations with over 300. See http://www.jffnms.org/docs/installing.html#sec:hwreqs for a list of what people (on this list) are doing. Don't try doing that with IDE disk drives! Or not much memory. I'd say drive speed is more important than memory, which is more important than CPU speed. - Craig -- Craig Small GnuPG:1C1B D893 1418 2AF4 45EE 95CB C76C E5AC 12CA DFA5 Eye-Net Consulting http://www.enc.com.au/ MIEE Debian developer csmall at : enc.com.au ieee.org debian.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
