I think I have distilled it down to a PHP/coding issue. Some php functions used are used in a way they are not intended. With the latest Ubuntu PHP implementation, these functions are not longer "warning", they are failing. In order to use JFFNMS with ubuntu, you either have to manually install an older version of PHP or rewrite some of the JFFNMS code. I think the safest way would be to use an older version of PHP as the project seems to be, shall we say "slow" moving. ;) If I have some time next week, I may try to get it running in a rootshell so the main Ubuntu system can use the latest version of PHP.
