Hi JFS Team!

First of all, thanks for the nice work with JFS.

I just upgraded to kernel 2.4.16 and patched jfs-1.0.11 into it.

It runs fine except for a very odd error:

attempt to access beyond end of device
03:06: rw=0, want=10490416, limit=10490413

Is logged about 10 times when booting and while fsck.jfs is running on the
root partition.

I did create those partitions with jfs-1.0.5 (coming with SuSE 7.3, i.e.
kernel 2.4.10)

Is this an error I should worry about? Why is jfs trying to access the
device beyond the end of the partition. The partition according to fdisk
is:
Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 7476 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 1 523 4200966 c Win95 FAT32 (LBA)
/dev/hda2 * 524 549 208845 83 Linux
/dev/hda3 550 7476 55641127+ 5 Extended
/dev/hda5 550 615 530113+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hda6 616 1921 10490413+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda7 1922 3227 10490413+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda8 3228 7476 34130061 83 Linux

So you can see that the end is at 10490413. Can I fix this ? where is it
written?

I had some recent crashes due to buggy 'uhci' usb modules in the kernel
and that's why I upgraded to 2.4.16. In the previous kernel 2.4.10 I also
used a manual patched jfs 1.0.11 without this happening.

*stumped*

Thanks
Jocki
