Hello,

I am looking for a linux filesystem that supports compression.
I found that AIX JFS does support it, but can't find anything
on the linux JFS. So I guess linux JFS does not, does it?

JFS for Linux currently doesn't support compression in the FS. Have you looked at CFS at www.crypto.com/software/ maybe this would work for you.

This seems to be only encryption instead of compression. Should I dig deeper?

You are right, sorry about that CFS isn't going to help with
compression.

If compression is supported on AIX JFS, why can't it be ported to Linux JFS? Is this something planned for the future? Or is it that IBM doesn't want to opensource that particular portion of the JFS2 code?

Cheers,
Nicholas
