One more step can often help. Following this procedure, instead of pressing enter on finding the item, press alt-up arrow. This method preserves the selection while not immediately triggering the action. It's especially useful when filling out a form with several fields and combo boxes, but I use it all the time to maximize dependability.

Subject: Re: Combo boxes where the item is activated by arrowing down Hold down the Alt key and hit the down arrow. This will open the combo box and allow you to arrow through it until you get to the desired choice. Then hit Enter. Although I have found that this does not always work in Internet Explorer 11. -----Original Message----- >From: Kimber Gardner via Jfw <[email protected]> >Sent: May 16, 2014 10:59 AM >To: "The Jaws for Windows support list." <[email protected]> >Subject: Combo boxes where the item is activated by arrowing down > >Hi, > >I have a web site I need to interact with, but I'm having trouble with >certain combo boxes.
