Go for Windows 7 or 8.1 not Windows 8. I have 4 GB of RAM here and an Intel Core I3 dual core processor clock speed unknown here and it's working well.

Over the years Jon & I (Heinz, the mentor) have slowly upgraded screen
readers from a simple dos-system through most all the JAWS versions. We are
now at JAWS 15. Our computer is old and slow and has an updated and current
version of XP. We use Outlook Express and IE8. Google is our search-tool.

I am thinking of upgrading the computer and the Operating System so the we
can work with the internet a little easier.

What specs should the new computer have? What Operating System should we use
(At home I use XP, Vista, of course w/o JAWS --Heinz) and what Browser
should we use?

Jon's problem is not only total blindness but also memory issues, such that
learning new things, and linking long strings of actions to arrive at the
end-result is difficult. I would like to minimize the learning of new
things.

Any suggestion would really be appreciated.
