Hello, If you have Freedom Scientific's Open Book, you should have "Freedom Import Printer" in your list of installed printers. If you "print" the image .pdf to that printer, it opens OpenBook and performs the OCR. You can then read the document and save it as a text file or MS Word document, or in another format from the Open Book list.
The OCR is not of the highest quality, but I am still using JAWS 14, and the Open Book version 9 is now several years old. It may be good enough for some purposes. HTH. Ian Ian D.
