I also can't say enough for the difference JAWS has made to me. But I think the 
original post reflects a tragic situation where someone doesn't have the means 
even to make sacrifices to pay for the software. I'm reminded of pharmaceutical 
drugs that cost too much to help people in many countries around the world. I'm 
not offering a solution, just trying to acknowledge the lister's frustration.

Jaws has helped me in great ways as well.  I use it for both work and school 
perpuses. The SMA's are pricy but, it is what it is. They have to have away 
to cover cost of engeneers and develuppers.

I too have always paid for my own JAWS, including all the SMA's. the
availability of this screenreading program has truly been a tremendous asset
to my life. I have been blind since birth and took typing in elementary
school. When I learned of this program, I immediately wanted it. It has
opened up a whole new world to me.
