Jason, Not sure this addresses your issue but I have seen the same sort of shifted text while working in the terminal emulation package I use in my job.
There used to be a setting called pixels per space that could be changed to shift the text back toward the left on a braille display. I haven't been able to locate that setting in jaws 16 and can't say if it is still available. For other reasons I have gone back to using jaws 15, but would be interested to hear any further developments on the problem of shifted text in version 16.
