I had a very frustrating experience shopping on Amazon.com this past
Thursday. The "accessible" Amazon site seems to be even less accessible
than it used to be. I added three items to my shopping cart using the
"accessible" version of Amazon, and everything proceeded smoothly until I
reached the page for selecting shipping option. Previously, there were a
series of radio buttons for choosing the desired shipping option, with the
free shipping option at the top of the list. But now, to my surprise, there
were no radio buttons, check boxes or any other apparent means of selecting
the desired shipping option, although they were all plainly listed as
before. I hit space on free shipping, but nothing happened. I switched to
NVDA, but still, there was no apparent way to slect the desired shipping
option. I tried with both IE 8 and Firefox 29, but no luck. Finally, I
switched back to JAWS and just clicked on the continue button on the select
shipping option page and landed on the select payment option page, still not
knowing whether I had selected free shipping or not. Hoping for the best, I
clicked on the continue button and landed on the place your order page. I
reviewed my order, and noticed that free shipping had been selected, after
all, but there had been absolutely no confirmation of this on the shipping
option page. I clicked on the button to place the order, and my order was
successfully completed. But a few minutes later, when I received my email
order confirmation, I noticed that it did not contain the order number. I
had never before received an email order confirmation that did not contain
an order number. Obviously, Amazon is never satisfied leaving things alone.
They are constantly tinkering with their web site to the detriment of their
blind customers. The "accessible" site is not really accessible, after all,
especially if there is now no way to know for sure which shipping option has
been selected until you reach the place your order page. How is this
improving accessibility? Maybe Jeff Bezos should spend less time dreaming
about drones and spend more time trying to make his company's web site truly
accessible for all.

Subject: JAWS and Amazon
Has anyone been successful in sending an Amazon gift card using IE 10 and
JFW 14? I couldn't do it on the new Amazon site.
Feeling frustrated. I wrote Amazon and they just said they are still
testing the site and making random changes in its accessibility for random
custotmers to see what works.
