Absolutely agree. I grew up being read to, so both my parents would have been in the can years ago. When it came my turn, I read to my niece, sometimes using those NLS books with braille and print. Back to the example of the PDF manuals, they're out there, and the manufacturers couldn't care less how I read them.

The argument publishers make is that if a screen reader that is on the phone or similar device can be used by anyone and is not an exception to the law. I can't imagine many people would rather have a mechanical voice read a book than have a live voice read it but computer voices will continue to improve so the publishers want to take a stand now. I don't agree with them at all.
