I love the app called The Score. This is pretty straight forward, and you can click on the sport you want, like NBA for example and get the scores of games in progress. It updates every two minutes. This is for IOS users.

Sunday morning they have a show "Ed Randal Talking Baseball". I believe he's a former player and broadcaster.
