It depends on how many cookies show up. If thousands, I delete them all. The only consequence is that I need to re-enter passwords, etc., on certain websites that formerly recognize my computer. I need do this only once.
Another way of getting at cookies is Disc Clean. In Win7, go to the Windows edit field and type clean. Disc Clean comes up right away. Press enter, and you're off. Once all cookies, temporary files, etc., are detected, Windows produces a list of checkboxes. Arrow down, press spacebar on those items you want removed, then tab to the appropriate button —Okay, or whatever it is. So then just tab down to the "Browsing history delete button and hit spacebar. There are several settings there, at least one will be about deleting cookies ...
