Desperate plea for help!
I have a humongous job, 100 100 audio files (phone calls) which need to be translated from Swedish to English, then transcribed. I've been trying to use autotext, but they disappear. Below follows what I thought the procedure should be: Creating autotext entries First, select existing text, or type in the string you want as the autotext content. To avoid inadvertently adding a carriage return at the end of the string, do not separate your strings with carriage returns (word will select past your last character, and you get the return whether you want it or not). Insert menu, quickparts, save building block: alt-n, q, s. Dialogue opens. /some of the fields have mnemonics, some don't) First field is name. Tab to next field. Fields occur in the following order: 1. Name, (no available mnemonic letter you can hear with Jaws ) Here, type in the combination you want to use for evoking the string. The text you typed or selected before will be there by default, but it disappears as you type in your own abbreviation. 2. save as (g, normal or building block, select building block, there by default.); 3. Category (abbreviation c): Here, either select general (by default, or arrow down to New; 4. Description (type in something that clearly indicates what will be typed in, including whether anything is capitalized, followed by a space or not); 5. Options (o): Here, select Contents Only if you want the text entered without anything extra, just as is. "in its own paragraph" or "on its own page." 6. Save (s): Just tab past here. 7. Ok. (no letter). Just hit enter. So, I type in a whold bunch of stuff, the the autotext seems to bring up what I expect. One day, I had as many as 60 entries. Then, the next day, they wwere in effect for a while, then, they disappear. I've set up autotexts twice, but only a few remain. I've even corrected some autotexts on day that were duplicates, but they came back-the duplicate that I had deleted. It's driving me to drinking.
