I used it under XP. Once it quarantined my volume control (that was fun), but
a system restore took care of that. I had trouble installing my last update,
so I switched to AVG, but, remember, that was 3 years and 2 OS's ago.

Ted:

Are there any "not free" packages that might work better than Avira, and still
work well with JAWS? I have been assured, by people who supposedly know what
they're talking about, that, in a sense, you get what you pay for, and I do not
mind paying something to ensure greater security.

Thanks. And, if you feel that Avira would work as well as any "not free"
package, I will certainly give it a try.

According to a recent piece in PCWorld, it's leading the pack among free
programs. These ratings tend to fluctuate. but the usual suspects don't change
that much overall.

Thanks for answering my question, that I had posted in a previous message, and
to which I received no replies. Avira sounds like what I'm seeking.

Do you know anything about the "effectiveness" and "accuracy" of Avira?
And, how would I find it on the internet?

Avira products are smooth on installation and are fine during the use as well
together with Jaws Cursor.
